I am Amir Hartt, an American using my mother’s Chuffed account to organize a fundraiser for my friend Abeer Shaaban from Gaza. I have been friends with her family, both close and extended, for many months, and have video called with them many times before. I have helped her financially in the past, and assisted her relatives with succesful campaigns. However, due to the suspension of the bank account handling her previous GoFundMe, I have made this Chuffed link to cover her family’s food, medical, and evacuation expenses. This need has increased dramatically with the wounding of her husband Munir Salem Abu Eid, which necessitates an operation that will require an initial payment of $700, followed by monthly installments of $500. I cannot pay for this myself, so this fundraiser is necessary to ensure no interest fees are incurred in the event of any defaults. Money will of course also go to supporting a healthy diet of bread, greens, milk, and meat if available. This is to stave off the malnourishment that Abeer’s family currently suffers from, which is even more harmful considering all of her kids except one are below 18 and thus still developing and in need of extra nutrients. Funds will also go to securing shelter in case of emergency, and cartfare in the event of displacement or evacuation. Further adjustments to the fundraiser will account for full medical evacuation costs via the Rafah crossing using Abeer’s husband’s medical referal records for a bone graft surgery abroad (on top of his ongoing operation in Gaza, as the operations are to address two different injuries acquired on separate occassions). Funds will be transfered via SWIFT bank transfer from my mother’s American bank account to Abeer’s Bank of Palestine account. Transfers will happen monthly unless there is an emergency.

A few weeks ago I received the devastating news that Abeer’s husband, the father of her 6 children, was martyred. His name was Munir Salem Abu Eid, please keep him and his family in your du’a.

He was a disabled man who was wounded many times by shrapnel, but thanks to his great strength he continued to press forward for his family. Yet in a targeted missile strike from a reconaissance plane, he was killed in the Khan Yunis area’s market while out with his son Yussef. He died trying to provide for his family, trying to purchase them food in the market. His son was greatly wounded in the strike, and requires treatment. On top of this, a mere few days before his martyrdom, Munir Salem received a monumental bone graft surgery at the hospital, which had its first installment covered by both my own money and donations. Yet Abeer’s family is still indebted to pay monthly installments of 500 dollars to the hospital, so now even more donations are required, at least 500 a month, so that I can offset costs of food with my own money. Please stand with us as Abeer’s family weathers this time, and as we work to protect her children who have lost their father.
